eVeliko 2.0 marks a turning point in how Eveliko works. This post tells the honest story behind the shift from building software products to delivering complete Sitefinity solutions - and the financial reality and client insights that drove that change.
We are now focused on providing complete solutions, not products.
When we started the company, the idea was simple and clear: build products. We would not become another outsourcing company that does everything and nothing - assembler, web development, SharePoint consulting, ERP, you name it. Nothing wrong with that approach, but it requires real experts across all those areas. When you see a company claiming to do all of the above and then discover it's only 10 people - it tends to smell like mediocre work. And I hate mediocre.
So that model was ruled out from the start.
We struggled financially for a while, trying to sell enough of our $49.99 products. Running out of cash is not exactly the dream of any founder. So I decided it was time to take on a project - and maybe use that engagement as a way to introduce our product to the client at the same time.
A few months passed. We weren't able to sell our idea. I kept wondering whether it was the idea itself, our approach, or something else. Either way, some cash came in and we moved on to our second product.
The second product was more ambitious - one of those ideas you convince yourself the whole world needs. We started working with various companies as an embedded internal team (some call this subcontracting, but we always try to genuinely become part of the team). That experience made it very clear why the product model wasn't working.
Sitefinity has evolved into a large-scale enterprise platform. Large companies use it to bring hundreds of sites under one roof, run global operations and reduce development time. These companies do not need a product - they need a complete solution. They need someone to write the code (often alongside their own developers), deploy it, run demos and training, write documentation, and stay involved in the aftercare.
It should come as no surprise that they were hesitant to buy a $49.99 product from a 4-person company in Bulgaria and deploy it to the infrastructure supporting their global operations.
That is the insight behind eVeliko 2.0 - and it changed everything about how we work.
