The Challenge

An External System That Cost Three Teams a Deployment

The university managed 200+ faculty profiles through an external system, hosted and maintained by a separate team. On the surface it worked. In practice, every change revealed the cost of that dependency.

Adding a single field meant coordinating three teams across two systems - a content change became a deployment event. Go-lives required scheduling windows, cross-team calls, and version alignment between the external app and the main site.

Subsites that needed faculty data had no clean way to access it, so the data landscape fragmented over time. The external system was not complex - it held profiles, with no significant business logic that justified the overhead.

The Solution

Native Sitefinity Module + Chameleon Importer - $200K in Recovered Value

Eveliko assessed the system and identified a clear pattern: mostly content, 200 profiles, 6 relational fields each, no business rules that required an external host. A native Sitefinity module was the right fit.

The data migration was handled using Chameleon's custom JSON import feature - the external system's data was mapped to a JSON format and fed directly into Sitefinity. The entire migration effort, including mapping, import runs, and validation, came in at around 1 FTE of total effort. The import itself ran in under 8 hours.

After go-live, the client decommissioned the Azure application entirely. That single infrastructure decision saved $16,000 per month - $192,000 per year in cloud costs alone. Combined with the elimination of contractor team overhead and three-way coordination costs, total estimated recovered value exceeds $200,000.
